The Magnolia grandiflora are blooming! Some evergreen Magnolias take years to bloom if they bloom at all. This tree requires, ample sun, acidic soil and good drainage. Trees also get stressed when it is very dry and hot, this can reduce the number of blooms over summer. We had a wet spring in Christchurch, so we should see better flowers numbers on many of the Summer flowering trees and shrubs. (photo: A Davis 08/01/21 Ferrymead, Chch)
